If you lost your mobile,
send an e-mail to cop@vsnl.net with the following information
Your name:
Address:
Phone model:
Make:
Last used No.:
E-mail for communication:
Missed date:
IMEI No.:

>>The above messages has mixture of hoax and facts!!!

What is FACT?
The email ID (cop@vsnl.net) provided in the messages is an official ID of  Commissioner Office of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, INDIA.
Th Chennai polices have also solved some cases of mobile phones theft (received complaints through cop@vsnl.net) using the IMEI no. The related news published in  http://www.thehindu.com/todays-paper/tp-national/tp-tamilnadu/theft-complaint-against-teenager/article3114519.ece
other news related to cop@vsnl.net

  What is HOAX????

The email ID belongs to Commissioner Office of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. So the service is mostly applicable only for Tamil Nadu. So there is no guarantee for other sates of INDIA
Please check the below reference also
http://www.copvsnl.net.in/

>>cop@vsnl.net is not in active????
Please go and verify the existence of cop@vsnl.net on http://verify-email.org/
(or http://www.verifyemailaddress.org/)

seems not in active!!!!!!!

>>So Final concision...
cop@vsnl.net email service worked earlier for state of Tamil Nadu, but currently the email service  seems not to be working

So, if you lose your mobile phone, the best approach is..........

first visit the nearest police station, give a complaint, instead of complaining over an above cop@vsnl.net and waiting for their response.
